MEET OUR NEW PASTOR!
Rev. Dr. Chris Shearer
Specialized Transitional Minister
Following the retirement of Dr. Bernardo, our Pastor for 28 years, we are privileged to have Rev. Dr. Chris Shearer as our Interim Pastor. Dr. Shearer will guide our Church through the process of selecting, and transitioning to a new installed Pastor.
Pastor Chris is a native Californian and has a Master of Theology from Dallas Seminary, and a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies and Biblical Interpretation issued jointly by Trinity Seminary and the University of Canterbury – Christ College.
He followed a pastoral internship in Arizona with two long-term pastorates in northern New Mexico and Grand Rapids, MI. His pastoral work has focused on church redevelopment and helping churches reach the unchurched; it’s the former emphasis that led him to become a trained interim pastor. He is an ordained minister in the Reformed Churches of America (RCA). The RCA, along with the PCUSA, is part of a group of four similar mainline denominations that partner together and share clergy easily.
He and his wife Heather met in seminary and have been married 20 years. They have two children – their daughter Shiloh and their son Eli. They currently reside just south of Manassas, VA.
He loves - spending time with his family, the outdoors and hiking, learning, good conversation, friendship, every sport under the sun, music of all kinds, and good food from around the globe (both eating it and trying to cook it).
